Gregory Crewdson Lecture...

I heard a great lecture from one my favorite photographers, Gregory Crewdson, at the Dallas Museum of Art last night.  It reminded me how important attending artist lectures are.  He's such a talented artist and hearing his stories and visions were so inspiring.  Crewdson captures "moments between moments" as he said it.  His images always seem to capture the moment right between important situations.  Its very interesting and he even commented that he doesn't want to know or even think about what might have happened before the moment in his pictures, or what might happen next.  He wants that to be a mystery not only for us, but him as well.  He uses full production movie lighting to create his images, sometimes even shooting elaborate home interiors built from scratch in studio.  Here's an example of one of his images built in studio with a lighting diagram to show how it's lit.  32 lights for one shot, thats impressive.

Art Show at Bows and Arrows...

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who came out to the show Saturday night, I was really stoked to see such a big crowd.  I didn't really get any photos from the opening but here are a few I shot of the show in case you didn't make it.  If you got any good shots from the opening, email them to me.  The show will be up till Feb 20th, so go check it out if you have time.  Thanks again for your support!

Matt & mary emma hawthorne art show...

My wife Mary Emma and I are having an art show featuring some of her collage work from an "Africa" series and I will be showing some instant polaroids from a series I have been working on the past few years, plus a lot of iPhone polaroids.  I'm excited to show these iPhone images which a few are on this flyer.  I have shot literally thousands of images on my phone, so this will be a mix of those images.  We'd love to see you this saturday night, the 23rd, show opening from 6-9 pm at Bows and Arrows, 1925 lower greenville...
